Care of Children

The Emergency First Response Care for Children course, approved by Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS), is designed for caregivers, parents, and supervisors who need specialized CPR, AED, and First Aid training for children and infants. Covering scene assessment, CPR, choking management, bleeding control, shock and spinal injury management, and more, the 6-hour course includes a mandatory written and practical exam (passing score: 75%). Participants receive a First Aid Certificate and Wallet Card, valid for 2 years, accredited by Emergency First Response.

Who Should Take This Course?

This course is designed for hotel supervisors, company supervisors, school supervisors, caregivers, mothers, or individuals who require a Care for Children qualification approved by the Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS). The Emergency First Response Care for Children course is a specialized CPR, AED, and First Aid training that equips participants with the skills to handle medical emergencies in infants (under one year old) and children (ages one to eight). The course covers how children’s medical emergencies differ from adults, the emotional aspects of caring for children, and how to prevent common childhood injuries and illnesses.

What Will You Learn?

Primary & Secondary Care Skills

This course covers both Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid).

  • Primary Care (CPR) focuses on life-threatening emergencies such as choking or cardiac arrest in children and infants.
  • Secondary Care (First Aid) builds the rescuer’s confidence to assist an injured or ill child in situations where emergency medical services are delayed or unavailable.
  • The course content follows guidelines from the Pediatric Working Group of ILCOR.

Course Duration

Total duration: 6 hours

Assessment

Written Examination

  • Mandatory for all candidates
  • Exam formats may include multiple-choice questions, fill-in-the-blanks, and short essays
  • Oral examination available if the exam material is not in a language the candidate understands
  • Passing score: 75%

Practical Examination

  • Emergency scenario practice allows participants to apply their skills in realistic situations
  • Participants must evaluate the scene, recall critical steps, and take appropriate action

Certificate & Validity

Successful participants will receive:

  • First Aid Certificate (EFR – Care for Children with AED)
  • Wallet Card approved by Dubai Ambulance Centre Services and accredited by Emergency First Response
  • Validity: 2 years
